When I had just recovered from pneumonia I received my package from amazon.co.uk I had ordered about 4-5 items. If you wish to see what other products I got beside the ones I will be mentioning please check out this video of MY NATURAL HAIR HAUL :
Tonight I wanted to give you a more detailed review of my Giovanni 50:50 hydrating clarifying shampoo and the Giovanni 50:50 hydrating calming conditioner.
Shampoo:

The smell: The shampoo had a very neutral scent to it, but it kind of reminded me of a medical scent more than something containing parfym or so. Anyways it isn’t a scent that bothers me or that I think of.
Cleansing: The first time I used it, I made sure to use it twice. The first wash will make your hair clean and the second wash will make it super clean. I do feel the difference between the first wash and the second.
I would recommend to NOT keep your hair braided while cleansing, because it didn’t work for me. What you can do is section up your hair and do one section at a time, just like I did today. My hair is a growing out tapered cut
Moisturizing: I aways do a pree-poo (preparing for shampoo) with conditioner before I wash my hair just to help my hair strands from not getting too stripped. I used to think (based on earlier experience with a Shea moisture shampoo) that clarifying shampoo’s would leave my hair clean, dry and border line itchiness. Even though the Giovanni shampoo makes my hair super clean after my second wash it doesn’t feel dry or dull. Which I absolutely love about this shampoo, it cleanses but it keeps it moisturized.
Conditioner

The smell: The conditioner is also very neutral. It also feels very soft on my hair
Conditioning & Moisturizing: On the bottle it is writing that the conditioner should be used after using the shampoo. My first impression of this conditioner was AMAZING! I was in love and thought I had found a piece of heaven, but as I’ve learned as a natural low porosity hair is not to celebrate too soon haha.
I really tried to give this conditioner a chance. I tried it by it’s self first (I usually do my deep treatments with other ingredients) and sat under my hooded cap for about 30mins. When I rinsed it out under warm water my hair felt horrible, it almost felt like my cuticles had been raised too much and I was convinced that there was something in the conditioner that my hair just didn’t like. I felt like using cold water to rinse it out and close the cuticle and that helped me. I rinsed it off with an oil rinse to lock in all the moisture I got form rinsing it off because clearly my conditioner had FAILED to do so.
When I came out of the shower and my hair had dried, I clearly could see how dull and lifeless my hair felt. It wasn’t my good beautiful hair anymore and I missed that. I’m lucky I had my Cantu leave in to save me.
